Facial Redness
In Northern VAFacial redness is a common skin change that can result from a number of environmental or other conditions. Redness may be the result of capillaries that are very close to the skin’s surface, acne scarring, disorders like rosacea, dry skin, or pigmentation. Heavy makeup may cover redness, but it doesn’t treat the underlying issue and can, in fact, lead to further problems like oily skin, blackheads, whiteheads, acne, and acne scarring.
There are many safe, effective treatment options available to patients suffering from facial redness and resulting self-consciousness that can affect their personal and professional lives. At Nova Plastic Surgery, we provide several options to ensure we are able to help each patient’s unique case.

Broadband Light Therapy (BBL)
Collagen is the primary component of skin, almost entirely responsible for firmness, shape, and skin tone. When collagen production is increased, the health and wellness of the skin and underlying tissue improves, creating a milky, smooth complexion and youthful firmness.
When facial redness is caused by scarring, skin damage, or sun exposure, laser resurfacing can effectively peel away the damaged layers of skin to reveal bright, even skin beneath. Laser resurfacing require more down time – typically around two weeks – but also produce dramatic results that cannot be attained in less invasive ways.
