Accure Laser Acne Treatment in Ashburn, VA
Struggling with stubborn acne can be frustrating, especially when over-the-counter products, topical treatments, and prescriptions just don’t seem to work. If you’ve tried it all — from antibiotics to skin care routines — and still find yourself dealing with painful breakouts or oily, congested skin, it may be time to consider a more advanced, long-lasting solution.
At NOVA Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, we’re proud to offer Accure, the latest FDA-cleared laser acne treatment that directly targets the root cause of acne — without harsh systemic side effects.
Schedule a ConsultationWhat Is Accure?
Accure is a cutting-edge laser treatment specifically designed to reduce acne by targeting the sebaceous glands, which are responsible for producing the oil (or sebum) that clogs your pores and may lead to breakouts. Unlike other acne treatments that may only address surface-level symptoms, Accure goes deeper by addressing the overactive oil glands themselves. The therapy uses a 1726 nm wavelength laser that specifically targets and shrinks overactive sebaceous glands, the root cause of acne. This process, known as “selective photothermolysis,” reduces sebum production over time while leaving the surrounding skin untouched.

What Are the Benefits of Accure?
Accure offers several advantages over traditional acne treatments:
- It targets overactive sebaceous glands, which are the root cause of acne
- It’s a drug-free alternative for patients who want to avoid antibiotics, hormonal treatments, or isotretinoin (Accutane)
- It’s safe and effective for a broad range of skin tones
- It’s non-invasive and requires minimal downtime
- Results are long-lasting
Accure also offers the additional bonuses of reducing redness, inflammation, and overall skin roughness, improving the texture of your skin.
Before & After Results

Am I a Good Candidate for Accure?
- Teenagers and adults with mild to severe inflammatory acne
- Patients unable or unwilling to take oral medications like Accutane
- Patients who’ve failed topical therapy
- Those looking for a non-antibiotic, non-hormonal, and drug-free solution to acne
- Patients looking for a long-term acne solution without daily maintenance
Accure has been shown to be effective in both adolescents and adults. However, it may not be ideal for patients with cystic acne scarring, active skin infections, or certain photosensitive conditions. The best way to determine if Accure is right for you is to schedule a consultation with one of the highly skilled providers at NOVA Plastic Surgery and Dermatology.

How Is Accure Performed?
You’ll wear goggles to shield your eyes from the laser light, and a cooling gel will be applied to ensure your comfort during the treatment.
Your provider will pass the Accure laser handpiece over the areas targeted for treatment. You may feel a mild warming or tingling sensation as the laser energy penetrates the skin and targets the sebaceous glands, but this is expected.
Once the procedure is complete, your provider may apply a soothing serum or sunscreen to protect the treated area. Each Accure treatment session typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes, and most patients undergo a series of three to four treatments, spaced approximately four weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.
What Is Recovery Like After Accure?
Most people are able to return to work, school, or their normal activities right away. You may experience some side effects, including mild redness (similar to a light sunburn), slight warmth or sensitivity in the treatment area, and temporary dryness or flaking as your skin adjusts to the reduced sebum.
Any side effects you experience are usually mild and subside within 24 to 48 hours. You may be advised to avoid harsh skin care products or direct sun exposure for a few days. It’s essential to follow all post-treatment instructions to maximize your results and minimize any potential side effects.
What Can I Expect From My Accure Results?
Because the laser addresses the underlying cause of acne (not just surface symptoms), noticeable improvements may take a few weeks to fully develop. Many patients begin to see:
- Fewer, less severe breakouts
- Reduced oiliness and shine
- Smaller-looking pores
- Smoother skin texture
- A more even complexion
One of the most exciting aspects of Accure is its potential for long-term improvement. Unlike topical acne treatments or pills that require ongoing use, Accure may lead to a lasting reduction in breakouts, with some patients enjoying clearer skin for months — or even years — after completing their series.
